The recruiter was professional and pleasant to deal with, but not so much so for the subset of the team that did the interview. Long story short, if the hiring manager does not even bother to conduct that first interview him/herself, just cancel it and save yourself some time. That time is probably better spent going for a haircut or a coffee.

I was contacted by a recruiter on email. First there was a phone screen with several coding questions. After passing that stage, I went to an onsite with four interviews focused on coding and system design.
Hiring manager first interviewed me to check if my background was close to what they were looking for. Then, I did a second interview with another research scientist. The second interview was more technical.
