The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley in Jan 2022
Interview
Interview was straight forward and process moved quickly. Almost feels like they are hurting for talent because of their employee turnaround. The interview is good experience for young professionals. I recommend submitting an application.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (Budapest) in Mar 2022
Interview
Applied via the online portal and was rejected a few days later (guessing because I didn't have a work permit and that was one screening question). A few days after that I received a message on LinkedIn from someone in HR at MS, asking me to send my CV and number. She called me around a week later and said my CV was excellent and apologised for recruiting being so slow, said some people had Covid. She also mentioned that she didn't realise that she already had my number in the system. I realised that she had no idea I had applied and was rejected by the system already. She asked me a few basic questions like salary expectations, told me that the team is spread out globally and that it wouldn't be a problem at all to get me a permit if I'm hired and that it would be maximum 2 interviews. I logged into the system and saw my status was changed for the application and I was under consideration. First interview was a 30 min call with a Director, he wasn't the initial person/department this role was reporting to and said it was changed recently, and he honestly didn't know much about this position and just asked me to go through my CV. He said in my interview list I should see the name of the next person I should talk to and I said I never received an interview list. Almost 2 weeks later I received an email to schedule the next interview. It was with two people who are Global COOs and were starting this team. They also didn't ask a great deal and the interview was less than 30 min, they didn't really know how things would be structured and gave different answers about the role than the Director did. One interviewer was exceptionally nice and spoke as sweet as sugar, the other was dead silent. I thought that was the last round and they were surprised and told me there would be "at least 2 more...so that everyone is happy" and when asked how many others were being interviewed they said "ummm about 5". They told me I would hear back from them by next week. Never heard anything back and sent 2 emails to the recruiter asking for a status update and never got a response. I logged into the application system and saw that I was "No longer under consideration" and it was updated at the end of April. I also saw the same position was posted at the end of April in New York and reporting to the interviewer who didn't say a word, so it's possible they cancelled the Budapest role and moved it to New York. The whole process was a disaster and no one was on the same page. I understand the job I applied to is a new position and an emerging field so not everything can be set in stone, as well as the entire team+recruiters being spread out globally. They weren't able to have the decency to admit things are chaotic and definitely didn't have the respect to provide an update after someone has given their time for 2 interviews, and I'm nearly certain I was the only candidate.
