I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (New York, NY) in Jan 2021
Interview
The process started out positive until I was interviewed by the ED of the department. Fast moving process as I was booked for interviews back to back. Initially, the VP considered me and it appeared her employees as well as I was scheduled to interview with them within days after meeting with her via Zoom. It was until the ED, interviewed me when everything changed. First she tried to devalue my experience by telling me she would offer me an Associate level role instead when the role I interviewed was for a Director role and the role I am presently in, is also higher than an Associate level role. Secondly, she appeared rushed or "busy" when I was trying to ask her other questions regarding the role. There was something about her I did not like. I guess the feelings were mutual as she appeared to be seeking someone that fit their "culture" and not from an experience level, just merely an appearance level. Out of all the managers I interviewed, she was the first to ask me about my salary requirements. Which I thought was odd.. So, a rejection is a redirection and although I was hired for another position within MS in 2019 and it was also a Director level role ( I declined) I will not speak ill on the company. It was just that individual who really was seeking to keep the team well white and she's hispanic. Further, the recruiter appointed to the role was fake and hard to get a hold of until she called me to tell me the VP was no longer interested. Great company, but I'll take this as a lesson, and won't apply for future positions within.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (Jersey City, NJ) in Dec 2020
Interview
Over 10 interviews, spread across 3 months. It was a smooth process despite being remote. The HR rep cold called me a number of times, rather than schedule time to talk which I assumed was to get unvarnished feedback - however, the interviews were either so far apart or so numerous that I’d need to review my notes.
The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Morgan Stanley (Mumbai) in Jun 2020
Interview
Process is long , took over 2.5 months for 4 rounds incl. BGC , maybe due to Covid in June 2020.
Rounds - Hiring manager, ED, ED2, HR.
You're not at any advantage even if you're ready to join immediately.
But interviewers are great, looked for profile match, skills and were friendly. Know the JD thoroughly and read well about the company.
