I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at MuleSoft (Sídney) in Jun 2016
Interview
Multiple in-person and over the phone interviews with even more follow-up calls to the interviews. They also make each candidate do several mock cold calls/emails with different team members which are critiqued then you are asked again to do the exercises over so they can test your coach-ability.
Compared to other interview processes, this one is not easy by all means but the things they require of you are pretty stupid and should be dropped. From my experience it seem like management was too focused on set processes and didn't care about what an individual achieved nor seemed to encourage true sales entrepreneurship which is what they claim to promote.
Overall I think management does care about who they hire, however, there comes a point in the interview process when enough is enough and they don't seem to grasp that concept.
I'm sorry you were disappointed with our ADR recruiting process. We have a very high bar for hiring that we've found requires an interview process that has a unique style and is on the longer side but yields the best candidates for the role. Sometimes we don't articulate very well how in depth that process is. We are taking your feedback to heart and are working on ways to be more upfront with candidates about our unique interviewing style so that they feel prepared and set up for success. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us, and best of luck in your next endeavours.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at MuleSoft (Dallas, TX) in Mar 2016
Interview
5 different phone interviews, presentations, etc. each approx. an hour long with interviewers at different levels within the organization. At the end of the long 5-6 weeks interview process, I was told that due to business decisions, they are not proceeding with the position anymore at the time. This was a big disappointment. I would expect the organization to be a little more responsible with hiring decisions than making someone invest a lot into their process and towards the end to be told that there aren't proceeding with the position.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Challenge faced (technical and otherwise), biggest failure, describe the architecture of a previous project, people management skills etc. I also had to build an application using their tool set and do a presentation of my work.
I am so sorry you did not have a good experience and that we had to shift the role to be based in our South Regional office in Atlanta toward the end of your process. We are extremely diligent about how we approach the talent market and where we expand our business, but there is no excuse for providing a poor candidate experience. I'm sorry my team did not convey that this change was an option to you earlier in the process, and we sincerely appreciate the time you invested in learning about us and letting us get to know you. Thank you for your feedback, and we'll be sure to not let such last-minute changes happen again.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at MuleSoft
Interview
The interview process has been very long to me. The recruiter always kept me up to date so communication has been great. I've been asked to deliver a technical MuleSoft implementation where I had to show how fast I can learn and the quality of the job done. No boundaries where defined on the context.
The most challenging part for me has been references since it seemed that no matter how many references I provided, more were requested. If you can't provide a good number of references, forget about this job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you convince the customer they are making a mistake?
If you were your manager, what woud you say about yourself?
How do you motivate yourself?
Tell me of a crisis situation with a project of yours and how you handled it.
Welcome to MuleSoft, and thanks for your feedback! We do place a high emphasis on references, and I apologize that there were some communication issues on our part. Thank you for highlighting an area for us to improve on ensuring that our recruiters and candidates are crystal clear on the type and number of references we need. Please feel free to let me know directly if you have any other feedback, and I look forward to working with you.
