I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at OpenTable in Sep 2025
Interview
The process had six rounds — recruiter, hiring manager, senior PMM, product manager, a take-home assignment, and a final panel presentation. I withdrew at the assignment stage because it became unusually involved. They required the full presentation deck in advance, even though my plan was to walk them through a concise deck supported by detailed speaker notes. It felt excessive and overly procedural for a mid-level role, and I wasn’t particularly energized by the team dynamic I encountered.
In my view, if a company needs six rounds and heavy spec work to make a mid-level marketing hire, it’s often a signal they’re still figuring out what they need rather than evaluating fit effectively.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you handle competing priorities? How would you influence the Product Roadmap?
This is great feedback, thank you for sharing it with us. We understand that six rounds and a full deck can feel overwhelming. Our intention is that both prospective employees and the team get a clear sense of fit, but it’s clear the process felt excessive and overly procedural in this case. We truly value your feedback about the interview workload and team dynamics, and we’ll use it as we continue to refine our interview process. We wish you the best in your next steps and appreciate the time and effort you put into considering OpenTable.
