The interview process was pretty standard. Around 3 rounds of interview where each interview had a mix of behavioral and skill based questions. Know your CV well and read up on Paypal product (atleast the product line you are interviewing for).
The interview process was smooth. But once the offer was extended everything went downhill, recruiters are really unprofessional - dodging queries, making lame excuses, haggling on pay package and so much more. Recruiters need to do their necessary budgetary screening before putting a candidate through the process!

2. why Product Management?

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PayPal (Hyderabad) in Sep 2021
Interview
Got contacted by the HR. Had an initial screening round and then 4 video rounds with the team members including 2 PMs, 1 SPM and the hiring manager. Each round lasted for 1 hour. Interview was conducted over a 2 week period.
After the 4th and final round I was told that my profile is on hold and they will notify me about the results. I followed up every week for 2 months but got the same response from the HR. And then one day they sent a standard mail stating "we found a slight mismatch between what we are looking for and what you possess".
It doesn't take 4 rounds and an additional 2 months to determine the mismatch they are talking about. I wasn't even given feedback as to what went wrong even after repeatedly asking for the same. Clearly, they might have found a better candidate and delayed informing me for 2 months till that candidate joined the firm. They used me as backup for their sinister reasons. This is very wrong, untrustworthy and unexpected from a company like PayPal.
Would highly recommend PayPal to review and improve their hiring processes, candidate communication and deadlines on informing the candidate about the results. Making a potential employee wait for 2 months and then hire someone else is uncalled for.
