Interview
Pretty standard recruiter screen, hiring manager conversation, portfolio presentation to a panel, and 1:1s. The recruiter was very chaotic, often taking 1-2 business days to respond to my questions, but expecting me to respond to any of her messages immediately. There were unclear expectations as well: I had a last minute writing exercise sprung on me in an interview that had been positioned as a standard 1:1 behavioral chat with a hiring manager. It also wasn't run effectively; I was asked to look at a Figma screen and rewrite the copy on the spot, reading aloud what I would write because I didn't even have access to the file to drop in ideas. I withdrew from this process early, moreso because the pay, leveling, and work life balance were not competitive with my other offer to begin with. But the chaotic interview process and attempt at a "gotcha" exercise made that decision easier. I also was told that late meetings at 7:30pm or even 9pm are common, and that's because there's a lot of leadership scrutiny on the team, which sounds like a bad time.

They reached out to me first. They send you a writing exercise and make you design for their own product, then send you an auto rejection 2 months later. Shady and disrespectful.

I was scheduled for two rounds of interviews, and then I provided sketches and wireframes. Then, never heard from anyone again for better or worse, even after following up.
