I recently had a disappointing experience with the interview process at PepsiCo North America and wanted to share it. I showed up 10 minutes early, dressed professionally in a suit, and brought printed copies of my resume and documents in case they wanted to see anything in person. About 10 minutes after the scheduled time, the interviewer arrived and walked me to their office. The interview lasted about an hour and consisted of standard behavioral questions, nothing out of the ordinary.
However, what followed was incredibly unprofessional. I was told I'd receive an email within three days with an update, whether I was selected or not. That never happened. When I logged into the portal to check, I was confused to see a message saying: “Our records indicate you are no longer being considered for an opening because you missed a scheduled appointment and therefore are not eligible to continue in the hiring process.”
Luckily, I had requested a copy of my visitor badge to be emailed to me. Clear proof that I showed up.
It's frustrating to see how disorganized and careless the process was after showing up in person, on time, and fully prepared. If this is how candidates are treated, I can only imagine how they handle things internally. I'm just glad I saw this before moving forward any further.
