1 Behavioral AND Technical Interview with a Hiring Manager
I had a really good experience with each of my purely technical interviews. They just asked HackerRank Medium Problems and then left some time at the end to ask questions about them and the company.
My last interview was with a hiring manager. I was led to believe that this would just be a behavioral interview and was surprised when halfway through, the hiring manager asked a difficult technical question and tried to have me solve it in HackerRank. This change already threw me off, but it was made worse by the fact that the manager I interviewed with was extremely unprofessional. The entire time we were speaking, he seemed very disinterested and at times condescending. He additionally had loud notifications going off on his computer and phone the entire time I was doing the coding part of the interview, which was very distracting.
Qualtrics has potential candidates fill out a survey partway through the interview process (they had me fill mine out after the second technical interview) to better understand how they can improve their interview process. This should really be done after all of the interviews are complete, I wouldn't have given them as high a score if I knew how unprofessional my last interview was going to be.
