The hiring process at Rivian takes an average of 7 days when considering 1 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Sr.Process Engineer had the quickest hiring process (on average 7 days), whereas Sr.Process Engineer roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 7 days).
The interview process consisted of phone screen by recruiter, followed by hiring manager screen and another technical phone screen.
This was followed by full day of five interviews. Most interviewers were cordial and interviews were good, It was behavioral , situaltional and technical rounds.
But after taking day off to attend interview and nearly spending 10 hours just doing interviews, there was no response. The recruiter simply did not even respond to any of my follow-ups and ghosted me completely.
This is really bad way to treat candidates who also spend their time and energy and tells lot about the company culture.
30 minute call with the recruiter, where he claimed the entire process would take 2-3 weeks. What a joke. Took 3 weeks and me following up with him to move on to the next round.
Next interview was an hour phone call with the hiring manager. Again, didn't hear back from the recruiter for weeks, so I followed up again. I got a generic email response asking for my interview availability for the panel interview, which was the final round. But even after hearing that the hiring manager loved me and wanted to move forward, the recruiter ghosted me several times.
Time is so valuable, especially during a pandemic where people are working hard to stay afloat. It's incredibly rude for recruiters to ghost candidates, after making promising and optimistic claims from the beginning. If someone is asking you about next steps, at least have the decency to say "Hey, we are moving forward with someone else." Or "Hey, we've been hiring lots and I lost track. Let me get that scheduled for you!" or ANYTHING.
I had an employee referral, and two other senior managers who vouched for me, and I still didn't hear back.
Please get it together because you crushed my dreams of working for my dream company. It's frustrating to not know "what could've been" especially after all the positive feedback, and learning that I was supposed to move to the next round. And that I was lied to up front about how "the entire interview process will take 2-3 weeks, we've been working hard to improve our recruitment process." Yet, my friend interviewed for nearly 11 months before getting an offer.
It's unfortunate because the hiring manager was awesome, but the impression this recruiter has given me left me with a sour taste in my mouth about Rivian and how it operates. Good luck to all of you who are trying to work here.

Interview
Very comfortable phone discussion. The interviewer was engaging, honest, efficient and allowed me to feel comfortable, to be at my best. This was one of the better phone screens I have had in a long time.
