A recruiter emailed me for scheduling an interview for the position of a Structure Design Engineer at Rivian. As a diligently interested candidate, I provided my availability for the following day afternoon which was confirmed by the recruiter. Being a working professional, I cleared my schedule for this interview and made required preparations for it. Following day, early morning the recruiter emails me saying that this position is being filled and therefore my interview will be canceled without speaking with me. In my career, I have never been disappointed by an interview process like Rivians. This tells me that there is miscommunication within the company and the recruiting department is incompetent in doing their job.
To Rivian, please do not get candidates excited about the interview and reject them without having an initial conversation. It is unjust, disrespectful and dishonorable on your part to do it. If you have sent out an invite, then you make sure that you respect the time and efforts of the candidate. A word of caution to candidates interviewing at Rivian, please re-confirm with the recruiter if they are genuinely interested in interviewing you and would not pull a stunt like this one. Rivian has failed in providing a good recruiting experience.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rivian (Irvine, CA) in Sep 2019
Interview
Two Phone interviews, followed by On-Sit interview (Power-Day Interview). I got an email initially confirming a phone interview. Then had a 15mins phone call with HR, followed by 40 minutes phone interview with Hiring Manager. Then was invited over to Rivian for Power Day interview which lasted from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Lunch was included. Was given a tour of the facility for the first 30 mins, then interviewed by Manufacturing Team, Release Team, Program Management Team, Technical Team, Purchasing Team, and finally lunch with Two of the team members. Got feedback that I was passed in a week.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Ohm's Law, Joules Law, Questions on Previous Work Experiences, In-Depth technical questions, Questions about DRE process and knowledge of Test methods / what parameters you use to create a test plan?
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Rivian (New York, NY)
Interview
Three step process:
1. HR Phone Screen
2. Phone Interview with Hiring Manager
3. In person Interviews at Rivian HQ
The worst organized interview processes I have experienced. HR took days to respond after given times for first interview. Hiring manager missed first scheduled meeting time. Interviewers at Rivian HQ were late for interview times. No offer to put me up in a hotel for the interviews. No offer to reimburse mileage. After all that, no further communication after the in person Interviews even after several emails to both the HR and hiring manager.
