      Product Manager Interview

      Jul 16, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at SimplePractice (Los Angeles, CA) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Finally, and after all this time they told me we are going to give you feedback this week. Thursday came in, the HR person reached out to ask me AGAIN about my compensation salary, He said we cannot give you that amount but we can do waaaayy less, I said what about in between? he said I will try my best to push for that. Monday next week came in, he called me again to tell me that the team cannot afford that for now but there will a room for growth in the next coming months to have a raise based on your performance, I said ok fine send the offer letter and we will take it from there. He said no we cannot do a written letter unless we get a verbal Yes, I said Ok fine YES. Please send me the letter via email. Wednesday they called me to tell me they moved forward with another candidate since last week. I was like what?!! this is the most unprofessional experience I've ever had. Why you are negotiating with the me whole time if you moved forward with someone else, You also, knew from the beginning that I asked for a specific amount. If you cannot afford it why you wasted 6 weeks of my time and made me decline other offers for nothing? Honestly, I am super disappointed with their process. they make you work for them for free to tell them what you can improve for their product so they can get free feedback from people in the industry. Such a time waste. Thank god it didn't work out with them, and this experience made me learn a lot as well.

      Application

      Interview

      - Recruiter screen (passed) - Once you pass the recruiter screen, they give you a competency exam with some odd questions that have nothing to do with the role (think pattern detection, etc.) (passed) - I received an email from the recruiter that they are moving me to the hiring manager interview, please share your availability. - then, GHOSTED - follow up emails, no response. Look, I get that you're busy and moving on. But it takes ~60 seconds to let a candidate know that you ended up hiring someone else. Treat people with dignity.

      Product Manager Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at SimplePractice in May 2025

      Interview

I had a connection refer me to a role, then a really positive interview with HR. I interviewed with the hiring manger and it went not so well. I was qualified for the role, I had good responses for their questions, I brought challenging questions for my side and yet they was overly negative the entire time. I tried to bring a positive energy, but I was met with pessimism about my qualifications. They ghosted me after. Sometimes people have a bad day and it holds true for the interviewer as well as the interviewee, but don't stack a negative experience without response. I would not suggest working in the product organization at this company.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Do you have experience with 0-1 product launches.

      Question 2

I asked what vision already existed for the product that I would manage.

      Interview

Terrible interview format and questions that don't get proper understanding of product sense. Questions were broad and did not focus on product skills but rather questions that could go one way or another, depending on the responsibilities handled by other stakeholders.
