I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
The whole interview, from start to finish, was delightful! The whole process took a month from the referral to offer letter. It consisted of a phone screen, take home coding project, and an on-site interview.
I learned a lot about the company at each step of the process. More specifically, I got a deep look into engineering culture through the technical portions and company culture through asking a lot of questions. My recruiter and the interviewers were very kind and easy to talk to!
I thought the take home project was straightforward, and offered many areas to showcase your thought process and strengths. I actually spent more time than was suggested to polish my submission and make it as reflective of my abilities as possible. The on-site interview was very engaging. I loved all the conversations I had with the interviewers, and thought it was very conversational versus one-directional Q&A.
My only feedback is that the interview process took a little longer than expected. There were some times where I was anxious to hear back about the next step (both after the project and on-site). I know that convening and giving feedback takes some time, so it's understandable 🙂.

Initial phone screen with recruiter for overall fit, then informational call with hiring manager to learn about the opening, followed by managerial phone screen for culture and technical fit. After this, one week to complete a take-home exercise. And finally, an on-site with about four 45-minute in-person slots each with 1-2 developers plus manager.
