I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks (Evesham, NJ) in Dec 2016
Interview
I applied several times for this position, turned in a resume with 20 years of management experience, and profit & loss history, I showed a strong history of management of 80 employees with covering time off, flights to customers, overseeing 500 million dollars in sales. After several weeks I got a Telephone interview from a Starbucks Recruiter in NYC. The call lasted about 49 minutes. I was pretty much let to believe that the job was mine. I was told it would be a hands in training period if 8-12 weeks, and then after about 2 years I would be given my own store to manage, as a "Full Manager". Income, Benefits, time structure were all disclosed. I was told everything looked great, and the district managers would review my application and let me know in a week. Well the week went by, and no answer, then 2 weeks went by, and I decided to call the Recruiter back to find out what was happening. I was being proactive because I really wanted this position. Well after speaking to the recruiter again, I was told they were still waiting for a decision. It came in the way of a form letter email, and NOT as a phone call as I was told it would be... the standard "At this time you will not be moving in to the next level of the interview process, but we encourage you to apply again for another position at Starbucks." TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY AFTER ALL THAT TROUBLE! I have applied for everything that Starbucks offers from "Cashiers to Manager" and I get the same stupid run around and the EXACT SAME RESPONSE OVER AND OVER! Same Standard Form Letter Response each time. I got so frustrated with them that I called in a complaint to the HR department in the corporate office. I wanted to know why I keep getting turned down for everything!?!? They have been slow to respond to my concerns over being told how I'm a perfect fit, and then being completely turned down. I'm starting to believe that it's my age that's causing me the problems being 49, but I see others working there that are passed the retirement age. It's very strange that they publish their hiring rate is 1 new person every hour! but I can't get a base job in any division. Believe me it's their loss.
I applied online. I interviewed at Starbucks (Vernon, BC) in Sep 2016
Interview
I applied for the Assistant Store Manager (ASM) September 2016 and heard back about a week after submitting my resume from a recruiter. The recruiter sent an email telling me what the process would be:
1.Phone screening (Not to exceed 30 minutes) to see if I was a good fit for Starbucks/ what they were looking for.
2. If the screening went well, then there would be another phone interview (Between 45 to 60 minutes) of behavioral (STAR) questions.
3. In person interview with DM(s) at a local Starbucks upon successful previous interview.
I passed the screening and before getting off the phone, she had sent a link for me to schedule my next interview. My next interview was about a week and a half later and I studied behavioral questions/read other people's glassdoor interview experiences for the ASM position. It'll help a lot if you practice answering questions in STAR format (Situation/Task/Action/Results) and can give insight to what you learned from your experience or what you might do again if you had to do it all over again. Be honest if you have never been in a situation or if you can apply it to school instead of work.
The recruiter finished my interview in about 30 minutes, which was a sign that it did not go well. When asked if I had any questions, I asked when I would hear back if I were to make it to the final interview. The recruiter told me she felt that I would start off as a really strong candidate as a Shift Supervisor and be able to work my way up to being ready for an ASM between 6 months to a year. I have been working as a supervisor in a production environment for over a year now not dealing with customers. She asked if I would be alright starting off as a Shift Supervisor instead, which I was absolutely delighted to do. I have always wanted to work for this company and felt that they saw value in me because they tried to get me a different position (as opposed to letting me go because I didn't get the job I applied for). She asked for my resume to pass along to the three store managers in my area and the next day I received a call asking to come in for an interview for the SS position.
I came with my resume 15 minutes early. The baristas will ask you if you'd like a drink while you wait and I highly suggest you take up the offer to show that you love coffee! I just did a grande pike place, nothing expensive. The store manager that I interviewed with was extremely friendly and I liked how it felt more like a conversation with emotion/reaction as opposed to the recruiter (who was very deadpan and I had no idea where my responses were taking me through the interview process). I was asked a few questions and the manager said she wanted to bring me on board for SS. I about cried with happiness that the interviews were over and I made it!

Tell me about a time you had to make a difficult decision?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks (Los Angeles, CA) in Sep 2016
Interview
It was a great process. I was interviewed by two District Managers who were very engaged, experienced, and direct. They highlighted great factors and difficulties relevant to the position. We went in depth with various duties and responsibilities and what they typically expect from Store Managers. They were very friendly yet to the point; they were truly where I aspire to be in the next five to six years.
