5 weeks of jumping threw hoops. It started with one phone interview with some Target recruiter. Next a phone interview with the store Managers, which was such a dry interview. I was then invited to the store for an in person interview, the STL manager was very kind and outgoing but the store manager didn't smile once and made me feel super uncomfortable. He said they were looking at 6 other people but he wanted to pick 2 of those people he was confident about to introduce to the corporate women. A few days later I was contacted via email and was informed that they wanted me to come in AGAIN for a "mock interview" before I had my final interview with the corporate women. I asked the STL "so it's between me and one other woman, right?" and she's like, "nope! it's just you". so I felt like I had a good chance of landing this job.
This mock interview was helpful but was frustrating to have to keep driving 45 minutes to this store over and over again. Weeks later... I had my final interview with two corporate women, the district manager and a visual merchandiser. I had studied for days and days, refreshing my memory on the key visual terms. But the interview just was us walking around this massive super target and asking me questions about the mannequin displays like "what would i do differently?" "why?" "what would make this easier to shop for the customer" "what's the story" I thought I did a pretty good job. I just remember leaving being super thankful that 5 week, 5 interview process was OVER. This last interview was on Monday and was told i'd hear something within the next couple of days.
I don't hear anything tuesday, wednesday, thursday, or friday so i called them on friday afternoon. I was told "they decided not to move forward with me." I was extremely disappointed and frustrated, especially because they didn't have the decency to contact me... I don't know any other day of the week prior to let me know so I wasn't an anxious mess. I was super bummed after jumping threw all those hoops to end up with nothing and no explanation. If you are trying for this job, good luck. I honestly don't know how i could of prepared differently. I went to school and have a BA in fashion business for gosh sakes...
