I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (Chennai) in Sep 2012
Interview
i had to go for the interview directly as i was i 70+ overall category. there were 3 HRs. 2 of them i guess were for the technical review and one of them (the lady) was for the non technical HR. it lasted for about 45 minutes. but it was smooth with little ups and downs which i guess were normal. the only error i made was that when they gave me a c program to write. i had to write a simple program to divide 2 numbers. but when i did write, i did not take care for the case where the denominator is zero.
other code was again simple. it was to write a program for finding the factorial of a number. i am from electronics and instrumentation branch so i guess they did not ask me much from the coding part.
however they ask me several questions from the core mostly from control system and microcontrollers.
they asked me about my academics at school and about my co-curricular activities too.

Interview
Easy process focusing on Projects in detail , Coding , Sql queries , OOPs and some managerial questions followed by HR interview. They mostly focus on your confidence and calmness rather than only knowledge. It's better to have good communication and quick thinking in the interview.

Interview
The interview was of 3 rounds: 1 HR and 2 technical. It was not difficult and not easy for an entry-level role; it should focus on communication skills as a fresher.
