I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesco (Glasgow, Escocia) in Aug 2018
Interview
I applied online one afternoon and a few days later received a phonecall inviting me to an interview the following week. I prepared via other questions I'd found on this website. I turned up early along with three other candidates, all were teenage males. Once the woman was ready she took us into another room where another member of staff was waiting, along with an older woman who was also being interviewed. This woman had previously worked for Tesco and so there was a lot of bias towards her having known the process etc.
The two women interviewing were lovely and reassuring, felt like a group chat rather than an interview. We had to complete a health form and an availability sheet before giving our right to work documents. After this we were asked two questions and we answered in turn, then we were given a task to build a paper tower together as a group. We had 5mins to plan and 20mins to build, and the tower had to stand by itself for 1min. The task was definitely easier said than done. After this we were taken onto the shop floor and required to pack bags for customers on the tills for approx 10mins. One of the women then came to collect 3 of us and take us back to the original interview room. We were then one-by-one taken for an individual chat with one of the women, to discuss our health form and availability sheet.
My interview was on a Tuesday evening and I was told I'd receive a phone-call with their decision (of whether I had been un/successful) by the Friday. Unfortunately it's now eight days later and I haven't heard anything in return.
