Interview
Informal and friendly- one to one. I was asked lots of questions about scenarios at work and what I would do- things like when did I feel I had made a difference at work- I think they had already chosen me as he helped me out with answers. Best advice would be to write a very confide personal statement about yourself. Take time to think through each question and if in doubt just talk!!
I had to take an online test to get into the interview process. I passed the online questions and was given a confirmation email saying someone will get in touch with me shortly. After that maybe two days later, after I'd given my details someone rang me and asked me what date would be suitable for an interview, we spoke for a short while he seemed pleasant enough. Then when the day came, I walked to the customer services and they got in touch with the man who was interviewing me. He took me to a room asked me some questions then asked what days I was available etc. After that he passed me onto a girl who worked as a stock assistant and she showed me around and what she would be doing. Then I was passed onto the tills/cashier to watch the process. I think I was expected to help but when I asked the customers no one really wanted any.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tesco (Dunfermline, Escocia) in Oct 2016
Interview
Group interview. Questions were not directly asked to anyone, but to the group as a whole. 4 managers sitting at the back scoring you on your answers, while the people manager was asking them.
Also had to do a group exercise - build a 6ft tall tower from paper and sellotape. This is to demonstrate teamwork, so make sure you speak up.
The group was then split into 2, one group went to the checkouts and we had to offer to pack customers bags. The other group went to the shelfs and had to move products to the front and get rid of cardboard.
