I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Tesco in Jan 2015
Interview
Filled in an application from online. Got a phone call a couple of days later asking me to go in for an interview in the store. Was then interviewed by manager and assistant manager. Felt more like a terror investigation than an interview. Questions were nothing like I had expected and quite difficult to answer even though I had appropriate experience. Would of thought I was going for a manager position, not checkout assistant. Both interviewers were friendly but did not make me feel comfortable and relaxed when answering questions.

It had an average length, the lady interviewing me was really nice and down to Earth. Asked me lots of questions about the company and about articles I've been reading (Forbes, WSJ, etc.), so do your research before you apply!

Interview
They check your documents, then they interview you one by one, all basic competency questions. After that they show you to the actual area you would work and see how well you do there. As long as you can legally work there and can do the job properly, you should be fine.
