I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Tesco (Leeds, England) in Feb 2012
Interview
I applied online through the company website. A few days later I received a phone call from their HR Representative and was asked to come in for an interview. When I got there I had a one on one interview with the HR Rep who called me. The interview itself was pretty average and had an light atmosphere about it.

Question 1
Describe a challenging situation you had to navigate on your own?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Tesco in Jun 2015
Interview
Applied online and was invited to a store interview within a week, this is the third time Tesco have invited me to an interview within 2 months and the interviews are all very similar.
Was taken through to the back of the store by a member of staff who sat me in the canteen with some of the other candidates, was kept waiting about 15 minutes because the mangers were "in a meeting" one did poke his head out to let us know it'd be another few minutes.
once in the room (as before) I was interviewed in a group by three members of management staff, this means they just put the questions out to the room and expect each of you to answer, they do vary the questions off the cuff on occasion so be prepared for that, you may not be answering the same question as the person before you.
one of the questions was about change in the workplace, I gave an example of a time where I had to update and change a load of procedures for a previous employer, the manager then said "yes but can you give an example?" I kind of knew I was on a hiding to nothing at that point. I've had three of these interviews now and I highly recommend you only give answers about retail or sales, any time I've mentioned other types of employment the panel seemed to blank over. Seems obvious but not everyone has rafts of retail experience to speak of.
this time we were asked to complete a group task while one of the managers (strangely this manager introduced himself as the "store manager" so I expected him to be making the decisions, though he wasn't privy to any of the group task) left the room to photocopy passports, it was to build a tower out of paper, very simple task which is just a bit of fun obviously, they ask you a few questions about it afterwards which you're of course expected to espouse the virtues of teamwork and planning.
Two of the managers then asked each other "do you want to do one to ones or not?" to which the reply was "nah don't think so." We were then escorted out of the building.
This is the second interview I've had at Tesco where one of the interviewees knew members of staff in the store, in a previous interview the interviewing manager was very familiar with an interviewee and was talking about football games they'd attended together, nothing wrong with that but it's not particularly encouraging practice for other potential employees.
I was sent an email rejection within 72 hours of taking this interview as I was "not right for the role."

Question 1
Talk about a time where you adapted to change in the work place.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesco (Gatwick, England) in Jun 2014
Interview
Quite relaxed, they just went through my CV and why I think I would have been good at the role. I dressed formally (as you would for any interview really). After we were selected (post-interview), we had an introductory day which was very long and a bit dull but had to be done! This was simply about their core values as a company, our uniforms etc.
