I applied online. I interviewed at Tesla (Paramus, NJ)
Interview
Applied through linkedin and my resume allowed me for an over the phone interview. The phone interview went well, but the recruiter hadn't even read my entire resume before contacting me. After that, I was set up for an in-store interview at 10 AM, about an hour commute for the location I was going for. I got there early and waited until 15 mins before my interview to walk in the store, only to find out the recruiter had given me the wrong address!
The location that I was meant to go to for the interview was not far, but it still made me late and these things are punctual when making a first impression when trying to get a new job. When I got to the actual interviewing site, I had to explain that to the interviewer/ hiring manager, which he didn't seem to care. The interview process from this point on went relatively well, besides the fact that the interviewer was overly fake and tried stumping me by rephrasing certain questions he had already asked. You could tell he was bothered by my flawless responses to his general and subpar interview questions.
I was applying for a job that doesn't even require a college degree, out of genuine interest of working for the company and the interviewer was taking his job way too serious, either that or he saw me as competition due to me reiterating various motivations to grow within the company. I'm into cars as well so I already knew more about the actual cars then he did, not to mention Ive driven their higher end models on a daily basis at a previous job.
My overall experience was UNPROFESSIONAL to say the LEAST. I drove an hour to get to this 15 minute bogus and amateur interview. What a complete waste of time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If we were to hire another candidate, what would we at Tesla be missing out on by not hiring you?
It was casual and informal. I found that the managers were not very focused and seemed to lack professionalism. I'd recommend asking them more questions about the position and what it can offer you. There will be alot of sales force
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you willing to work beyond normal businesses hours.
The interview process was straight forward, but they were unresponsive following. I did follow up, but the recruiter did not make any effort to return my reach outs. I was kind of confused as i thought this was a pretty prompt high standard company.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked very open ended questions, pretty generic for band knowledge.
The group interview will do a lot of role-play and will ask to sell me something. They also ask open questions, like, Can you tell me about your sales experience? How do you approach generating new leads and closing deals? How do you handle rejection and what motivates you to exceed sales targets? Also, question about Tesla products.
