      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Eustis, FL) in Apr 2013

      Interview

I went in and they handed me the application. I filled it out and then they sent us through a group "audition" process. This consisted of learning the songs and teaching them to one another. It was fairly simple but you had to feel comfortable being ridiculous and silly because that is what the children liked. They picked about four of us out and kept us after the interview to offer us jobs. They give you a price they are willing to pay you, al of us got minimum wage even though some of us had years of experience, there is no room for negotiation, you get what they give you or they will find someone else. You are told you need to go through CPR and First Aid classes ($30 a piece out of pocket here in FL). Do not expect to get reimbursed. Worked for the YMCA for almost two consecutive years. Management turned over my last summer working there and I ended up leaving summer camp because I was put in to many difficult positions where I was left alone with more than the staff to student ratio and put in situations that I was not comfortable in, I ended up going back to Child Care and was happy there. I say this because if you do well in Summer camp and they have openings in Child Development in the fall- they usually will offer them to the camp counselor that they think did best. That is how I ended up working there part-time for almost two years before moving. (BEWARE: they will not transfer you to another YMCA outside their "district" as it is not doable in their systems-- they explained why when I left for college but it has been over a year now).

      Application

I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Sammamish, WA)

      Interview

Fairly relaxed, standard questions related to your interest and experience with early childhood education. They didn't really go over my resume- many workers were in high school, so their expectations likely weren't high.

      Question 1

Name one time you settled a conflict and how you did that.

      Interview

The interview process was very easy, the interviewer didn’t ask me any questions, she simply explained what the job duties were and made sure my schedule aligned with the camp schedule,
