I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at US Army (Louisville, KY)
Interview
Structured. There is a specific manner in which you will be tested, both mentally and physically in order to enter the service. If you pass all of the tests, you will be offered a number of different job opportunities to choose from.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at US Army (Fort Leonard Wood, MO) in Mar 2014
Interview
must do extensive write up of every detail of work experience, cut and paste for best chances of getting to interview. Use USA Jobs.gov, but have Glassdoor check your resume for timeliness.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at US Army (Flint, MI) in Jul 2012
Interview
The interview only consisted of a series of questions such as previous school, work, any law violations, and what I would like to do. He/she will then show you some videos of an MOS you might want. After that, if you want to continue, the recruiter gets some information for you, and takes you to the nearest MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station). To take the ASVAB. Once your scores are in the system, your recruiter will look at job openings based upon your scores. You have the choice to choose a job that he/she lists, or wait a couple days to search for more jobs. If you cannot find the job you want, the recruiter will then say, "you will have a better chance of getting the job you want by going to MEPS to get it." I suggest not doing that as you will have to go through the entire process of joining minus the last step which is going under oath to have another list pulled. If you do not find the job you want, I suggest waiting for it to become available because you will be stuck in the job you choose for the duration of your initial contract. You can change after you fufill your first contract.
