My interview experience with Insight Global, who was representing the company for a position I applied to, was confusing and ultimately disappointing. I initially applied through a LinkedIn post and had a positive first interaction—the initial recruiter was professional, responsive, and gave me a good impression of the process.
Unfortunately, things quickly went downhill.
The second recruiter contacted me an hour before my scheduled interview—something I found both unexpected and unprofessional. During our conversation, it became clear she had little to no familiarity with the Portland, OR area. For someone staffing a role in a specific region, you'd expect at least some research or basic knowledge. She also seemed unaware of several prominent companies I’ve worked for, which was surprising given their significance in the local industry.
Despite my relevant experience, she told me I wasn’t a fit for the position. Oddly enough, just a few hours later, I was offered a nearly identical role at a competing firm—raising questions about how much effort or accuracy went into her evaluation.
I attempted to follow up with the first recruiter throughout the day for clarification but received minimal response.
In the end, the lack of communication and professionalism—especially from the second recruiter—left me with a negative impression of the entire process.
