      Sales Associate Interview

      Aug 28, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Bellingham, WA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart (Bellingham, WA) in Aug 2011

      Interview

Went online and filled out the job application and took the nearly hour long personality survey. Within a few weeks I got a call inviting me to an interview for the next day. The interview was at a hotel nearby the store where I waited with several others in the hallway. We were called in 3 at a time, there were several managers each at a seperate table. We were seperated, one interviewer to each of us. They would ask us a few questions, usually about character and work ethic and then we were rotated to another table with another manager who had different questions. I spoke to three managers and then on my way out I was thanked for my time by another manager who was by the door. I was called within the next two days to be informed they would like to offer me the job. I went to the job offer, sign the papers and went to take my drug test. Shortly after, they called again to tell me the I was clean and when they wanted me to be at orientation. Orientation at WalMart takes two full 8 hour days, which you are paid you normal wage for. It consists of lots of videos, a little work book/guidebook and a LOT of CBL's (computer based learning). The videos are boring, the work book reminds me of elementry school and the CBL's put you to sleep. WalMart has a CBL for everything from cashiering to safely cleaning up messes to management. They essentially teach you what they need you to know and they quiz you at the end to make sure you stayed awake and paid attention. They can be as short as 5 minutes or can take an hour or more to complete and you usually get more than one at a time to do. My experience was probably a little different than most, because I was hired along with 70 other people as a temporary Remodel Associate. While WalMart is always hiring, they do not often hire that many people at the same time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Can't really remember there being any particularly difficult questions, they were mostly questions about your personality and work ethic. i.e.- "Describe a time you had to prioritze your time to complete a difficult task" or "Or in situation X, what would you do?"

Solid and very well informative process. It was straightforward and well put together. I really enjoyed the people that I interacted with and ultimately chose another route due to time constraints.
