I applied in-person. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets
Interview
After a successful phone interview I was immediately sent a message for an in-person interview which I immediately signed up for. I arrived early and the people who interviewed me were very nice, they should me the area where I would work (leading me on, you’ll see me say that again) but the questions were extremely manipulative and had nothing to do with the job I had applied for, and most of them were in regards to my previous positions and conflict that occurred in them. I was not offered the job, which is fine, but I found it EXTREMELY unprofessional. I gave full availability, 10+ years of customer service experience, and had references from two current employees. If they were not happy with my questions or anything else, that should have been saved for the first, over the phone interview. It does not look good, as a company, to lead a potential employee on. Professionalism goes both ways.
Also, if you have a college degree, I HIGHLY recommend dumbing it down, they asked a lot of questions regarding that in (again, manipulative ways). This seems like a great company to work for, however, the interview process is by far the worst out of the three jobs and college interviews I have been too. When I did interviews at my first job, we would NEVER trail someone on after the first interview.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
What do you do if something is out of stock or if a customer cannot find something?
They do two interviews. One is pn the phone, they ask general questions and discuss your three years of past employment. The second one is woth HR rep. And hiring manager, if you pass the interview they will call. They called me 2 days after the second interview. And then a background check, upon completion of background check if everything is fine. You'll get the orientation meeting and on-board tasks
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Norwalk, CT) in Apr 2025
Interview
Phone Interview, started with a basic explanation of the role and the store, then was asked several questions. Interviewer may ask specific questions based on other roles I be doing in the store. For ex, what makes you want to be a cashier? Etc. Be prepared to talk about things like work history, situational experiences regarding difficult customers, strengths and weaknesses, as well as 'why should be hire you.' Whole interview lasted about 45 minutes and was probably the most challenging I've had for a retail role. Was offered a second round interview but declined.
