I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Syracuse, NY) in Apr 2012
Interview
I got called into the store for an interview and the Hiring Manager was very nice and bubbly which helped me feel completely at ease. She began by explaining the different positions available to me, I chose Pharmacist Technician, and went over basic questions such as availability and simple background check questions. I was actually given two interviews, one which was more vague and was supposed to be a phone interview. The actually 1:1 interview was quite repetitive but still very easy. Many situation questions were asked, nothing that involved a lot of thought. After the interview was done she told me I would receive a phone call detailing another interview with the managers of the pharmacy department. I was also told that I would be in training for 6 months to become certified.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Wegmans Food Markets (Collegeville, PA) in Mar 2012
Interview
The interview was very easy to schedule even around a full time job. They have interviews similar to a production line, constantly taking in interviewees and spitting them out. It is quite comical to watch. The interview itself was completely redundant and painful. I equate it to interviewing with a robot. The interview consisted of a) explaining every detail of your prior work experiences (which you pretty much already did when you submitted the online application), b) hypothetical customer service scenarios and how you would handle them, and c) some completely unimportant questions (which actually caused me to be speechless at first due to their stupidity. And all of these questions are asked to you word-for-word by your robot (interviewer). The interview was approximately 30 minutes in duration, but make sure to get comfortable because it will feel much longer. In the end I have little hope in getting the job because of the nature of the initial interview process. It leaves no room to connect with your interviewer - for you to get to know them or for them to know you. They just get to know you as a collection of answers to a long list of questions. I love Wegmans but their interview process is dreadful.
