I applied online. I interviewed at Zillow (Evanston, IL) in Dec 2020
Interview
I had a first round interview for the PM internship, and the case given was much more of a consulting-style case than PM. This threw me and struck me as a bit unfair. Also, I was not asked "why company" or "why role" which felt like an oversight given the emphasis on fit. The rest of the interview was standard--mix of resume walkthrough and pitch.

Question 1
Imagine you were in charge of a major retail chain, and you received news that sales were down. How would you go about diagnosing whether this is a problem? If it's a problem, what would you do?
Thank you for your interest in Zillow and for finding the time to interview with us. The duties, roles and structure of PM orgs vary from company to company. Some have a more technical aptitude while others have a greater level of importance on skills that overlap with a traditional consulting role. With that being said you will find a difference in approaches to interviewing content and focus areas. We thank you for the feedback as we can use this to provide more guidance to candidates at the beginning of the interview process. You ca reach me at annie@zillowgroup.com if you have more you would like to discuss. -Annie Rihn, VP of Recruiting
