Yet another company with a self obsessed ex-FAANG interviewer who showed zero interest, keeps cutting you off and brags about the company's culture.
READ THIS BEFORE ACCEPTING AN INTERVIEW
Here is the whole process -
Recruiter approached through third party job search marketplace. I loved Zillow's work and accepted to be interviewed even though the company has been through a huge attrition in the recent past. Next was tech screening.
The interviewer introduced himself for over 2 mins, bragged about his previous work in FAANG but started to cut me off within few secs of my intro (first red flag). He then got started with the coding challenge. Two questions - 1 simple LC and 1 medium. There was huge misunderstanding on the second, whether or not to start coding once pseudo is finalized but we kept mistaking each others expectations.
The entire interview was not interactive since the interviewer posted the question and put himself on mute, that you have to keep ensuring you maintain two-way conversation frequently. Ok, this is a coding round and its about collaboration, but please be advised not everyone is familiar with a random web IDE and we’d want to brainstormed on the question and set expectations right within the hour instead of orally rushing through it.
Dear Company, Interviewers need not explain the company’s work culture and the team. Candidates can find it from the interview process and from the Q&A.
I have done tech interviews, with interviewers who could connect with you and keep you engaged through the hour, giving the best possible experience, unfortunately this is not the place.
I don’t care if the senior leaders are ex-FAANG or Tesla but I would decline to work if they lacks people’s skills.
