Interview with management was lengthy, very positive, and went well. Was surprised by subsequent interview with team members as they asked questions about specific qualifications/experience not listed in the job posting or brought up by HR or IT management.

Interview with management was lengthy, very positive, and went well. Was surprised by subsequent interview with team members as they asked questions about specific qualifications/experience not listed in the job posting or brought up by HR or IT management.

There were two questions pertaining to coding and the other to SQL query. The coding question was based on Recursion coding which from a programmer who has been coding for over 15 years found it unrealistic. In fact, the IT industry is changing there interview process to more and more about algorithm questions that you do not use in the real world. So, if you have not studied Algorithms in College or now, you will not do very well. I do not see the point in these questions, they do not tell you at all about the programmer. Perhaps, just a simple line of code and ask the interviewer what the purpose of the code or what it does? The other question dealt with a paragraph that asks to give a 'TOTAL salesperson' based on person's name and time of sales. You had to figure out what exactly they were asking in the paragraph, I guess this was part of the test. After figuring out what the paragraph was asking you had to correct the query that correspond to the paragraph. Both the questions had to be done in 7 minutes. Since, I have been out of work for two years, I think they were looking for someone who came out of college and has been coding in Recursion or has been coding in SQL. I was doing neither.
