1. Design Website Usage tracking System. Discussed all functional and non functional requirements. Explained the high level architecture and API end points and discussed how different database methods can be used. Also discussed how alerts can be captured and sent to customers. Interviewer was good and discussed all the pros and cons of all the design approaches. He understood my design skills abilities. I got positive feedback for first interview and scheduled another round with some junior developer. In second round he asked me to design distributed cache mechanism. I have given the functional and non functional requirements and discussed about cache eviction policy. Later explained all the high level modules based on dynamo principles and discussed scalability concepts like leader-follower, gossip protocol and hinted handoffs, vector clocks. Interviewer has not even asked any single question/follow up on the design. Ideally high level design interviewers even if it is not correct interviewer should check candidates thought process. But do not know why the interviewer was very silent and rejected me in this round. Wish captain fresh does interviews with better industry standards in future. Not just for time pass.
