The following re the guidelines of test they sent me: "The overall feel of the video The video should be beautiful, of high quality, and inspiring The pacing of the video is appropriate (nothing feels too fast, too slow or too abrupt) You can suggest adding pauses to the video if appropriate You can also suggest removing unnecessary pauses There should be no mistakes and no quality issues anywhere Everything in the video should look, sound and feel right For this, you’ll have to trust your gut feeling Talking-head shots Cuts in speech are smooth and they look and sound natural Shots shouldn’t have unnatural movement or excessive shakiness Show the talking-head shot when the expert first starts speaking If appropriate, you can ask the editor to remove a fragment of the speech If so, clearly indicate exactly which part should be removed If the expert starts a new topic (like a new chapter in a book), use a short pause This pause should be about 3-6 seconds long Broll shots The video starts and ends with about 15 seconds of stunning broll Start and end with the most stunning shots possible Fade to black at the end of the video (during the final 1-2 seconds) About 40% of talking-head shots should be covered with broll This is an approximate guideline, no need to calculate this Use b-roll to create natural transitions between different topics or tips Whenever possible, use relevant broll to illustrate what the expert is saying The goal is for the viewer to feel as if they’re there, which can be accomplished by always showing on the screen the things that the expert mentions You can’t see what broll is available (besides the shots already in the video), so you can leave a comment asking the editor if a specific shot is available Avoid confusing broll that illustrates something other than what the expert is describing Also, avoid broll where the expert is shooting from a different vantage point However, it’s perfectly OK to show beautiful broll showing nothing in particular to cover up those parts in speech when nothing specific is mentioned All broll shots should be stunning, or they should show something that the expert has mentioned (or both) – you can ask to replace shots that don’t meet these criteria Broll shots should show consistent, smooth movement as much as possible Replace, slow down or stabilize jittery broll shots (to get smooth movement) Small jitter can be stabilized using “warp stabilization” tool Fast-moving shots can be slowed down (but they will look different) Shots with significant jitter can be shortened, replaced or removed Also ask to shorten, remove or replace shots with other quality issues For example, shots that have problems with focus Colors Right now, only the first 60 seconds of this video have been color-corrected. If you think that the colors are done well, please ask the editor to color the rest of the video. Otherwise, ask the editor for specific color changes (without coloring the rest of the video). We check colors on Macbook Pro at full brightness using the Safari browser. Our video quality is set to 4K. If you use an old monitor, there’s a good chance you’ll see very different colors. All colors in the video should look beautiful We want to see saturated colors that pop (but still look natural) The colors should match the light at the time of recording (for example, a sunny day should have brighter colors than a cloudy day, sunset should have warmer colors, etc.) Color and exposure should look consistent throughout the video The skin of the expert should always look perfectly natural Avoid any unnatural color casts (for example, a bluish video) Exposure should be balanced (avoid blown-out highlights or dark shadows) No color correction should be applied to the iPhone screen recordings Audio High-quality headphones are required to hear the audio properly. Otherwise, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to pass the test. We recommend listening as loudly as you feel comfortable. The voice should always be clear and easy to hear The voice should sound natural (avoid boxed-in voice) There shouldn’t be any clicks, hisses, crackling noises or other quality issues If you find any such issues, please point them out individually Always use background music that complements the mood of the video The background music shouldn’t make it difficult to hear the expert’s voice Use multiple songs (of a similar style) in each video without repeating them Ideally, songs should only change at a time when the expert isn’t speaking The video should end at the same time as the music ends (to achieve the last two guidelines, the editor will need to loop or remove certain parts of the track)"
