Making Amazing Happen Here - NOT!!

Pros

The upside of working at AECOM is that once you leave the company, you will be a much happier person and your next job will seem perfect since your experience at AECOM was a complete circus act.

Cons

Amazing things DO NOT happen at AECOM. It's the complete opposite in fact. Facts: The company is one of the worst companies to work for. It's so bad that Carol Walton wrote about AECOM in her book "Worst Companies to Work For." AECOM is managed by accountants. Mike Burke used to be a partner at KPMG but was booted. Unfortunately, he made his way over to AECOM and is now in charge of running an engineering company. And to top it off, he recruited Steve Kadenacy to be President and COO of AECOM, who is a big bully and rules by fear (good job Stevie!) Well you know how this story will end.... Benefits are laughable. You better not get sick because you will be paying more for your healthcare than what you earn at this company.

Pros

The company has a very high turnover of staff due to the condition which I will expand on in the cons section. Due to this you are given more responsibilities thus learning more about calculations, project management and budgets than at an other company.

Cons

Upper management love to shout about the merger but the majority of staff on the "shop floor" know what an unmitigated disaster it has been. Aecom now is a far to big to function properly. There's a them and us attitude between Aecom and formerly URS staff. The staff retention for experienced engineers is low. Staff are expected to work long hours and travel in there own time for business. Upper management need to actually listen to the yearly staff survey and implement the information that they have been given. Salaries are low in comparison to other similar companies, the benefits and pension are poor. The majority of reviews on here with five stars have been written by somebody employed by Aecom to get the star ratings up. I find this the most telling thing about the company.

Pros

AECOM has had horrible employee reviews for the past year, is it strange over the past two weeks there have been multiple 5 star reviews? I would guess AECOM is trying to avoid being the top ten worst employers, that was based on Glass Door reviews.

Cons

Really, there is nothing good about AECOM, run as fast as you can. They will suck the life out of you.
