Pros

Very large design company with opportunities to work abroad if you want. The benefits are good and the pay if very competitive based on my experience. So far they have been willing to give me as much responsibility as I want, based on my performance.

Cons

The company is transitioning from multiple operating companies to one AECOM. There are growing pains here and this will take time. Right now the organization is not set up to allow you to know where your career is heading. The company still seems compartmentalized.

Pros

Excellent benefits and some of the people are very good to work with. Some of the senior managers is friendly and approachable.

Cons

Positive discrimination is rife, some women are promoted beyond their capability of personnel management. The bureaucracy is becoming insane and punishments for the smallest infractions are commonplace. The company is turning into a joke of a place to work since we became AECOM (formerly Faber Maunsell) it is not a good place to work anymore.

Pros

Earth Tech supports its employees and recognizes a good job done. There is good cross-fertilization of ideas between divisions. People are friendly and help each other, with a few exceptions (aren't there always?).

Cons

Bureaucracy, bureaucracy, bureaucracy. Swaddled in red tape. So much employee training that it seems like the company does it to cover their behinds. Whenever I asked HR for information, they would refer me to some obscure, difficult to find webpage that often needed interpretation by the same person who told me to look there. The intranet function for reporting hours worked against various projects is arcane and complicated, even for someone with great familiarity with computers.
