Pros

Global reach allows for career options. Potential is limitless and collegues are remarkable. Critical mass of resources allow for startup momentum. International offices are top tier locatons, close enough to reach global client base, even in "remote" areas. In general benefits are on parr with competing consultant firms in this market. Growth should also be above competitors prospects, especially among the larger companies. Being a multi-national company, there are country to country choices, benefits, cultural and living conditions that, if one is willing and in a position to relocate, can yield maximun fit to one's carrer track. AECOM weather current down economy far better than most firms.

Cons

Assimilation of former OpCos not very smooth or effective. Often no clear communication or understanding of where talents can be both valued and kept busy. Middle-Upper management having trouble braking "old" habbits and mind-sets. Centalized IT, budget and accounts systems are not yet harmonized, or certainly the training required to work it is not yet there. Public and potential client base still does not reconize AECOM as a household name or first though when searching for solutions in the market. Existing clients from former OpCo having trouble with the "New DMJM" or the "New CTE". Securing new work is terribly dependent on reputation and recognition, but AECOM is not there yet.

Pros

AECOM is a large and very succesful firm in terms of growth. In spite of the economic challenges the world faces, AECOM is well positioned for continued growth, both organically and through acquisitions. The culture is still male dominated- engineers and architects. Internationally diverse although true opportunities for growth and mobility within the larger corporate structure are yet to be realized.

Cons

Constant re-organization. The process of consolidating the operating companies will take years and will be challenging to manage. One must be agressive and have higher than average tolerance for change and ambiguity to thrive and grow in this kind of environment.

Pros

The company seems to offer very good salary and benefits The company provides varied assignments away from one's home office Office and employee support in logistical areas, such as office space, administrative facilities, copiers, computer hardware and software, IT tech assistance, etc are top notch.

Cons

Although senior management provided timely and appropriate "big picture" information to employees, middle management seemed to provide very little communications in those areas that directly affected employees. As a long time professional working in the area of architect-engineer-construction management services, I have been used to being a "sellor-doer" in pursuing work and then providing the services to a client base with which I have developed good working relationships. Unfortunately, AECOM's business model appears to require that one be either or the other. Staff are either marketing or operations, but little opportunity to do both exists.
