Store Manager ...Run run far away

Pros

Great pay that's it! This is a twenty word minimum so I am trying to fulfill the requirement so this will post.

Cons

District Managers are "kids" right out of college with no sense of "family". No help, constant turn over because they want you to run a store with no payroll. You can never be promoted higher then a store manager. Expected to come in on your off days weekly. 60 plus hours a week. You don't even get to hire your own staff or terminate anyone. It's all done by the DM's. Trucks are always wrong with wrong product. Inventories constantly with no one in the store that can do them besides the store manager. My advice run run run!!!! Do not work for this company!

Pros

The pay is definitely not enough to support a family, but it's alright for a single person. The environment is extremely fast-paced, and management can be tough, but, generally, you're treated fairly. Paid major holidays. All tasks can be completed easily if you have a strong work ethic and a sense of determination.

Cons

A small staff leaves little room for error. One person's mistake or tardiness with completing a task can put the entire team behind schedule for the remainder of the day. Expect extreme pressure to trickle down the ladder from VP's and District Managers straight to you. Expect your store to feature associates that barely breathe while on duty, moving from one task to another with no lull for the duration of the shift, and associates who do just enough to get by without being fired. The work of the latter will likely be sloppy if it isn't skipped entirely.

Pros

Keeps you fit. Shifts go quickly

Cons

Your contracted hours are only for a 17wk period in the year. Expected to do full deliveries with minimum staff and unrealistic times. Everything is timed and if these aren't met warnings are given. Health and safety is always broken when it comes to lifting heavy items above head hight. Shifts cancelled half hour before you start. Roster always changes including on your days off resulting in you not knowing when your in. Good hourly rate but minimum hours resulting in it being the same as minimum wage. Moral always down and always expected to give more!
