Pros

Very good pay. Paid holidays. Some of the best insurance you're going to find in the market, which is good because you will need it.

Cons

Constant empty promises. You'll be told you're being hired to run a new store in a different town, and the training has to be expedited in order for you to be ready. You'll be introduced to all staff as the manager to run said location only to find out at the end of your training that they gave it to someone else, and you're going to be their assistant. After the new store settles, you're going to be told to move in order to get your promotion within a couple months, but have to pay for the move on your own. After being in the new location for over half a year you're district manager will continue to lie to you by saying "next month you'll get your chance". It's s vicious cycle that will never end. When you bring up the conversations from the past, your DM will disavow all recollection of the conversation and yell at you. The job will eventually feel like a hostile work environment from senior management, where you feel like your job is on the line 100% of the time. Very veteran unfriendly. If you're in the reserve or national guard, you will constantly be asked if you can" skip this weekend" because the store needs your help more.

Pros

The pay is great, and the benefits are very good.

Cons

Very though physical days, long hours and always feel behind. Over the years the workload has increased without the proper adjustment of labor allowed to get the job done. The company is crawling out of its niche trying to compete with the upper level grocery stores of larger size. They have lost the philosophy of the brothers who started the company. Their sales are doing very well but the company has high turnover and will continue to do so unless it starts to value tenured employees who have been doing a good job and give the labor needed to meet their new standards.
