Pros

Alstom is a great stable company to work for with a very flexible work environment. The train transportation projects we get to work on are scattered throughout the world and are interesting. The engineers that I work with are for the most part happy and relaxed. It is not a stressful environment.

Cons

If you don't like the French, trains or engineering train related systems this isn't the company for you.

Pros

The work environment is friendly and supportive. People seem to have a positive attitude about the company and management seems to care about looking after their employees. As an intern, there was plenty of interesting work to be done.

Cons

The company is very large and seemingly disjointed. There appears to be a distinct disconnect and lack of support from the European headquarters and to its US operations. The gas turbines business does not seem to be very strong.
