      Lots of room to grow, but little regard for individuals who take risks or are driven to move the business forward.

      Pros

      Good people, good pay, lots of room for advancement, opportunities for international travel. Opportunity to migrate to diverse positions and departments. Plenty of good technologies.

      Cons

      Company values bureaucrats over initiative; 'process' over effectiveness and customer concern. Company has tendency to burn people out; use them up. Struggling sites have endless OT requirements. Often doesn't allocate required staff at start of project; then once it is behind, will throw bodies at it in inefficient manner.

      I learnt a lot, but after 7 years I had to leave: the company was definitely not interested to invest on me.

      Pros

      1. It's a multinational company and you have the opportunity to create a big network 2. You have the opportunity to work with a lot of Engineers that really love their job and the products they design 3. The possibility to change job internally and design your career are high, however the salary does not change accordingly...

      Cons

      1. French-centric company 2. In Italy, old Italian management with old mindset 3. Company is not interested in improving the processes and the way of working 4. Middle management is totally not empowered

      ALSTOM is a global company with interest in all type of markets, such boiler, turbines, trains, etc.

      Pros

      ALSTOM is centrally located in downtown area with free parking. The atmosphere at the company was feriendly with hard-working employees.

      Cons

      Due to economic downturn in the markplace, ALSTOM had to lay-off employees. Some of the employees was close to retirement and other employees was not close to retirement, which made it difficult for some. The rollcoaster ride is not good in these economic times for finnding employment and building a steady income for a family.
