Pros

Free cell phone and service.

Cons

No matter where you live the company has the same quota, for instance here in phoenix we run off a poor 1900 MHz frequency with no landline, internet, or TV presence but are expected to produce the same amount of sales as a market completely saturated with dominating reception, and a landline, internet, and TV presence like California. In return there is a large turn over rate for this position while a handful hold on.

Pros

There is an illusion of job security. The physical work environment is nice. This is a great place to work for the mediocre and unambitious. You can cruise through your career with doing very little work.

Cons

The pay is well below market. Six of the twelve employees hired with me quit within the first two years. Promotion potential is dependent on gender and race. Women and minorities need far less skill to advance. The company is a dinosaur. Very slow, low tech, and bureaucratic. Lots of boring projects. Even managers get bogus phone bills. Way too many levels of management. Managers invent needless bureaucracy to justify their existence.

Pros

Career opportunities within the company were very good. They require you stay in a position from 18 months to 2 years, but after that you can pursue other opportunities within the company. For a technical career this had some real advantages because you were able to keep your seniority yet build on your resume and experience.

Cons

The fear of layoffs was always there, but in this economy where are you going to find a job without that fera? One downside I saw was the seemingly non-cooperative spirit between some departments. The "service" departments were given directives but the support from upper manangement to enforce the directives wasn't as strong as it could have been. It would feel as if you were the "bad cop" doing the bidding for upper management and when the department you were supporting didn't like the directive and would push back and "throw their weight around", upper management would "give in" resulting in those trying to enforce the directive have less creditability with their client.
