Pros

AT&T still offers a pension and 90% match up to 3% on 401(k) and 50% match up to 6% Medical, vision, and dental benefits are comparable to others (Kaiser or more expensive United Network) AT&T pays paychecks no matter the economy AT&T stock pays a dividend - you can end up with an extra $10K at the end of the year if you have AT&T in your 401k cut out to you as a check AT&T offers work/life balance and most jobs are 9-5 Very little travel required - most employees never travel even in management - AT&T has banned travel and uses virtual meetings for everything AT&T offers laid off employees 30-60 days to find something else inside the company - so often being laid off is not a death sentence. Telecommuting! AT&T has finally decided to allow employees to use their products.

Cons

IT process called "IT UP" is perhaps the most insanely complex, nightmarish project management system ever conceived. Teams that support, design, and audit the process are guarding the hen house and will not allow it to be modified or reduced to protect their jobs. In-house tools used for various purposes lack any sense of design and are difficult to use properly. The company is mostly stagnant, with no employees wanting to leave or change jobs, so the job you take is the one you will likely retire from. Occasionally people move up the ladder, but they are very few. Annual Raises have been canceled 3 out of the last 4 years due to the economy (but jobs were preserved for the most part)
