Pros

They do the basics very well. Lots of opportunity to grow and progress.

Cons

Not financially competitive. Employees try to climb the ladder/ move around too much and happy to step on your toes to get ahead. This also makes it frustrating as it's hard to get any continuity as POC's constantly change. A witch hunt culture - if something goes wrong, you find yourself constantly ensuring you and your team are covered as they are always looking for someone to blame. This has lead to a large amount of people not accurately reporting in fear of unreasonable repercussions. Interview process is poor - leaves the door wide open to nepotism and as long as you are able to pass the interview which is a very general format, you can be offered a job. This has allowed people to have jobs they are completely not suitable for. Amazon love a meeting... why have 1 meeting when 4 will do. Lacking a proper wage structure - They bring in external candidates on more money than current employees which causes management a lot of problems. For example, Senior engineers are all on different salaries and have different number of shares as a bonus. As they all talk, everyone is aware we have had higher performers on less money than lower performers and the appraisal system would take 2/3 years to correct this issue - by which time is too late as the good performers won't hang around if they are undervalued.
