Pros

- Rapid Growth - Innovative and Exciting Projects - Opportunities for Development - Pretty good pay Generally I cannot fault much about my career path, having experienced quite rapid development. My advice to anyone joining is to make sure that you are well positioned for the great projects coming along - even if your team is not doing much exciting right now, something will happen in the next few weeks or months, and you want to be the person that management thinks about when that project needs to be implemented.

Cons

- Sometimes lacks structure (choice by the business) - Very direct culture (no cursing or harsh language, but people will tell you if they had expected more) - Very US focused All of the above are really reflections of the choices Amazon makes - if you want something different, this may not be the place for you. Additionally if you are not Seattle based, you will be mostly focused on execution, rather than building truly new products

Pros

- Focus on Innovation and Big idea; Company is working on a lot of interesting and innovative things - Data driven company so any recommendation need to be backed up by numbers - Customer Centric

Cons

- I did not believe Amazon was kind of a place that is described by new York times article until I experienced a bad pocket in amazon myself - The group I worked for had a lot of conflicts between leaders and team morale was quite low. The person I was reporting was horrible and gave me projects which are no where related to the reason I was hired in the job. - They ended up giving me a PIP six months in the job despite I had Outperform rating in the previous year. My manager forced me to signed PIP document and kept on finding faults in my work. She gave me 6 things to do to turn things around plan. I worked diligently on the plan but despite this she tried with all her might to find fault in the work I did. It was a clear indicator was she has clear interest in finding all faults in the work I was doing. This was the worst experience of my life to work with such person and getting hammered for everything I worked for. There were no checks on this manager and her manager blindly trusted what she portrayed. HR had no interest in listening to the argument.
