      Pros

      Good work-life balance, generally very nice people with strong focus on customer service, very much concerned about the safety and security of its customers.

      Cons

      Since Amex values safety and security so much, it is extremely slow to change and adopt new technologies. This has been particularly true since Amex became an FDIC-regulated bank. There has been an interesting influx of new talent, new cultures and a Silicon Valley-type subculture with the new digital initiatives. It will be interesting to see whether that subculture influences the rest of Amex or if eventually gets shutdown.

      I found it to be a bit misleading when not told about keeping your job upon contingency, but good pay.

      Pros

      Good pay. Loved the people I met. In a good location. I feel Ken Chenault is a good CEO for the company.

      Cons

      It was misleading to not be told during the interviewing process that being hired was upon contingnecy during training. You aren't really hired. That information could have helped me make a better decision beteween the 3 jobs that were offered to me to provide for my family of 6. My class didn't find out until we started signing paperwork to actually go on the training floor. A very stressful environment to be in for 2 months. No longer there after training.
