There is no good reason to work for Red Cross.

Cons

Red Cross lays off, don't care if you have 25 plus years. There is no perks. Red Cross don't value their dedicated workers. They keep the lazy ones.

Great place to start - little opportunities for advancement and HR is a mess

Pros

I work at the DCSC. Great PTO - accrue 5 weeks after being here for only a year; Some very talented, well-educated co-workers; opportunities to expand your professional network; management will often listen to suggestions to make processes more streamlined and will try to get them implemented

Cons

They hire employees with a lack of education and medical background, pay them peanuts, and wonder why they are spending so much money in training when these people leave. The DCSc is essentially a call center with a few specialized groups within that tend to have less turn-around and more educated employees; no room for advancement; HR is constantly making our lives miserable with tax errors, PTO changes, etc.

I love meeting new people everyday. I loved this organization and its purpose. Helping people with each donation saving 3 lives

Cons

over worked long hours. May have to wk 1st 2nd or third shift any given day.
