Have loved my job, but the organization is moving in the wrong direction

Great mission; good local management and colleagues; dedicated volunteers

Cons

Constant, and now, dramatic change; feels like it is becoming more "big business" and less like a nonprofit organization that cares about people; paid staff is already spread too thinly and will only be getting thinner in the future; work-life balance is already unmanageable, and it will get worse.

Pros

Staff and volunteers are committed to the mission and principles of the organization. They will give 110% when called upon, especially if seeing behaviors that align with the organization's ideals.

Cons

Expediency and numbers drive staffing decisions. Vast cuts and consolidations are resulting in an organization less and less in touch with the field and communities the agency supports. Serious lack of appreciation for those who do the actual work. No transparency or trust. Not the humanitarian organization it professes to be.

The politics are horrible and you have to have a friend in high places to move up in the company. If you aren't in the right clique, you are treated horrible and different from others. They don't treat everyone the same, there is blatant favoritism
