Pros

There are none there is nothing good about this organization

Cons

This is the most toxic environment you could ever imagine the Red Cross only mission is worrying about themselves they will tell you what you wanna hear and deliver nothing I don’t want to sound condescending but it’s not a good environment whatsoever A non profit worth 5 billion dollars that can’t pay a living wage

Pros

- Great exposure to the disaster response sector (if that's something you'd like to pursue as a career) - Great opportunity to network with local organizations - Lots of opportunities for advancement given high levels of turnover

Cons

- Long, unpredictable hours especially during periods of disaster response - No compensation for "on call" hours - Low pay (relative to the area) - High levels of turn over for both volunteers and staff - Volunteer morale is low, making volunteer management especially difficult - National organization sets priorities for entire organization, forcing local areas to implement programs even if they might not be wanted or needed

Pros

Phlebotomist certification, possibility for overtime and minimal travel

Cons

The most sexist work place I ever worked, men still made more then females and were given privileges over females even in sexual harassment cases. I don’t know why all of the creeps get protected at the Red Cross. My pay check was never right and the schedule was impossible to keep without getting burnt out. Also a union position where the union bullies staff with fear mongering
