Pros

Volunteers are very committed to serve clientele

Cons

Supervisor had a well deserved reputation for being a tyrant, one who had neither the knowledge of fundraising professional standards nor the ability to be supportive and not no to blow up. But then her boss also had never worked elsewhere, and only drunk the koolaid-aide. Additionally, the boss, dis'ed a national survey of employee satisfaction when results painted a bad picture.

Pros

I loved the job itself an the people I worked with on the heart of ARC. I love interacting with the donor.

Cons

Upper management is bad. They worry about the money not what the ARC stands for. They dont care one thing about the patient's, the donor's, or their workers. All they seemed to worry about was number and dollar signs in there heads.

Pros

Not much experience required to work in a lab, they are desperate to staff all 3 shifts because the turn over rate is obscene. Benefits are OK, 401k is not great but exists (4% match). Pay isn't completely terrible for someone desperate for a job out of college.

Cons

No career prospects. Strict restrictions in advancing within the NTL based on time of employment there, not based on skill or merit of applicant. Overall pay tops off after a year or two. Few learning opportunities. Red Cross doesn't care about keeping its employees, it's easier to hire a new contractor and pay them less. No commitment to the well-being of their employees. Benefits keep getting cut. Poor communication between management and workers. So far, few plans (if any) on improving treatment of employees (benefits, pay, recognition).
