Pros

If you're in Aon Risk Solutions and are client facing, you'll have large, high-profile clients. Aon is, after all, one of the largest brokers in the world. The pay is about average for the industry. Work-life balance is reasonable. After you get the hang of things, you'll be able to switch your brain off (if you consider that a pro...which I do not.)

Cons

I've worked at two of the three largest brokerage firms and in management consulting. Aon is shockingly non-collaborative. In my 10+ years, I'm not sure I have found more poorly trained managers. It's a highly political organization, and the in-fighting and bitterness between divisions and teams is palpable. Aon has a reputation for internal "fiefdoms" and it has created a very disjointed organization. Please do not write my review off; I'm not simply trying to flame an old boss or employer. I honestly want to warn others, so you don't make the wrong call and bounce after <1 year. If you value teamwork and want to feel passion for your work, I cannot recommend you join Aon.

Pros

You work with some amazing and talented people. Directors genuinely cared about the people there however they didn't really have the ability to make changes. If you're a recent grad, you'll have opportunities to work on some great cases, depending on what department you're in. Biggest perk at the company is that if you're VP level and above, you'll be protected when multiple employees file complaints against you for screaming at them and making them cry, and forcing employees to come into the office to finish working after hours, and if anything, get promoted. If you're in senior management and need a new company to terrorize junior level employees you've found the right company.

Cons

Purchase by Aon destroyed the company. SF is just a shell of its former self - all the talent that gave the company its name has left. All remaining employees are visa holders that are forced to stay, and low performers that keep getting promoted.

Fatal Career Move

Pros

Used to be a great place for talented people

Cons

Almost all those that made Stroz Friedberg a great company have jumped ship as a result of the damage the AON acquisition has done to overall employee morale. Management is either clueless or does not want to let employees into the clear intentions of the new owners. Ultimately, this company will end up as a tiny unit within AON.
