Pros

- Group of laser focused APM specialists who want to create an IT management company that isn't boring and doesn't suck - Place where ideas can happen, no idea is stupid or off topic, just make it happen and learn - Pretty good compensation relative to other IT management vendors or startups

Cons

- The free massages can sometimes be painful but that depends on your level of fitness

Pros

1. We have grown significantly in terms of customer base and employee numbers since I've joined less than a year ago. There's no sign of slowing down. 2. We've established ourselves as "Leader" in Gartner's Magic Quadrant, right up there with our biggest competitors. 3. We have a product that can be used by every single type of entity out there. Talk about a stable commodity! 4. Everyone is incredibly talented, sharp, and hard working and want to accomplish much - the desire to achieve is highly infectious! 5. AppDynamics demands the best performance out of every team which results in constant innovation, improvement, and forward momentum. 6. Everyone is very nice and sociable and are very good at what they do. 7. Everyone seems to love to be working there and are happy to be there. 8. We have regular company social events which make it fun and we have occasional free meals and free massages! There's a ping pong table and people actually use it. 9. It is close to BART and close to South Park and AT&T Park. 10. And finally, we have our own mascot... what other startups in SF can say that?

Cons

There's no training - You have to figure a lot of things out for yourself at first. There are no set hours (which is a good thing) but the hours can be long - but that's the nature of a startup! You just have to get the job done. You have to be extremely organized and on top of everything to do well - if you're wanting a relaxed job where you clock in/clock out, this is absolutely not for you. Fast paced and action-intelligence oriented only.

Pros

I was looking for something new and exciting and I finally setteled with AppDynamics. They have filled those requirements and so much more. I was fairly new to the whole concept of APM before I was thrown into it and the excitement hasn't let up since day one. Even with a good run professionally with good teams, good projects, good pay, good people etc. AppDynamics has taken it all to another level. The company is loaded with smart, hard-working people and every piece of the company is dynamic and energetic. The cutlure is really fun and even in my not so long tenure have started to make not just good office relationships but even good friends there. (The external events such as paintball, dinners, happy hour, the zoo, etc don't hurt either.) There is always something to learn, something to investigate, something to do. Its a great ride and I only see it staying that way. Bottom line, this was a good career decision to come to AppDynamics and I am very happy to be there. I am learning a lot and also getting to be involved in many things in addition to my own job which keeps things interesting.

Cons

In full honestly, it was a bit overwhelming to start, but with the combination of being a new domain for myself and a slight change from my previous professional life this was probably due to my own lack of knowledge in the domain along with the growing pains of a start-up. Sometimes the battles are long and even with that feeling of driving a problem to a successful conclusion, it can wear on you. This though would apply anywhere and isn't specific to AppDynamics.
